On April 18, 2026, at approximately 6:50 PM, Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a reported shooting with a victim in the area of 1565 Airway Rd SW, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Upon arrival, deputies located a victim who had sustained a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was immediately transported to the University of New Mexico Hospital (UNMH) for emergency medical treatment.
BCSO reports that the victim of this shooting is in critical condition. Given the severity of the victim’s injuries, homicide detectives were called to the scene to investigate.
Following interviews with witnesses at the scene, investigators determined that two vehicles were actively shooting at each other in the area at the time of the incident, striking the innocent bystander. One of the vehicles involved has been identified as a Mitsubishi Outlander, bearing New Mexico license plate NM-SHT803.
The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating this incident. Anyone with information regarding this shooting, or the individuals involved, is urged to contact the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office or submit an anonymous tip through our Tip411 app.
