Albuquerque –
Around 12:45 PM, a vehicle fire was reported on I-40 westbound near Carlisle. The Albuquerque Fire and Rescue, Albuquerque Police Department, and Police Service Aides from APD responded. All of I-40 westbound is closed near Washington. There is very thick smoke on the interstate, affecting visibility, which is also impacting eastbound I-40 drivers.
As of this publication, APD is diverting drivers off I-40 WB at Washington.
AFR may allow traffic in the far left lane as the fire is being extinguished. So road closures may change. Drive safely, ABQ.

UPDATE:
As of 1:15 PM, APD reopened lanes of traffic. NM DOT cams show the burnt out truck in the right shoulder, which a NM DOT help truck blocking behind it.
