Violent Career Felon Flees APD, Police Find Sports Car and Suspect at Girlfriend’s House

Albuquerque –

On October 6th, 2026, an Albuquerque Police Department officer was patrolling the War Zone when he observed a Dodge Challenger on the side of the road. According to the criminal complaint, the officer saw the driver do a hand-to-hand drug deal. That driver has since been identified as 25-year-old Dominic Giron.

The APD officer attempted to pull over the Challenger, and Giron took off at a high rate of speed. APD officers saturated the area and were able to find the bright red sports car on the 600 block of Alvarado Dr. SE backed into a private driveway.

While on scene, we observed officers speaking to a woman about the car and pointing to the house behind her. The complaint states the woman said Giron was the last person to drive her car and Giron was now inside the home. Officers went to the front door and commanded Giron to come out. He gave up without incident.

Officers found drugs inside the car on the passenger seat. After Giron was arrested, she went back inside her home but came out shortly after just in time to see her car get towed away because of her bonehead boyfriend’s felonious behavior.

Giron has been a violent offender since 2019 back when he and a group of teens fired at another group of teens in Northeast Albuquerque. In 2021, he led Bernalillo County Deputies on a high speed chase and crashed head on into a deputy. In 2025, he was arrested by APD for dealing drugs with his three children in the vehicle with him.

Giron’s probation was for 1.5 years prior to this recent arrest.

Hopefully, the court system adequately applies probation/parole rules this time.
