Albuquerque police are investigating a homicide after a man was fatally shot early on Wednesday in the La Mesa neighborhood.
Officers responded about 3:30 AM to reports of a shooting at an apartment in the 8100 block of Marquette Ave NE, near Wyoming Blvd. Responding officers located a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local area hospital, where he later died.
Homicide detectives are now investigating the fatal shooting. While on scene we observed police investigating an apartment complex parking lot and inside the residence.
The shooting marks the fourth homicide callout by APD homicide detectives and crime scene investigators in last few days. The last homicide investigations have been approximately 52 hours (two days and four hours), between 11:30 PM on Sunday, July 19, and 3:30 AM on Wednesday, July 22.
