On Sunday, July 28th, at approximately 12:35 PM, nine Albuquerque Fire units responded to 10300 Gutierrez Rd. NE due to a water main break in the middle of the street.
AFR responded to a partial collapse of a garage at a townhouse due to the weight of the water from the water main break. AFR says one occupant has been displaced, and one service dog is still missing after multiple searches of the home.
While on scene, we observed extensive damage to the road, houses, and property in the area. Insurance adjusters will be out as soon as possible to estimate the costs of repairing the homes and properties.
AFR is drilling holes in the garage door to insert their camera inside to look for the missing K-9. No injuries to civilians or firefighters have been reported.
New Mexico Gas and the Water Authority are working on repairing the street, but a timetable for the repairs has not been given.
We will report back if the dog is rescued.
