Albuquerque –
At 5:28 PM, the Albuquerque Police Department was contacted about a patient who arrived at Presbyterian’s Downtown Campus’ emergency room with a gunshot wound to the abdomen*. The woman’s condition is presently unknown but reportedly, she was being transferred to the University of New Mexico Hospital. APD was purportedly sealing a vehicle at Presbyterian.
APD officers are presently investigating if this shooting is related to another incident that occurred earlier, and the victim either self-transported or was taken to Presbyterian by another person. From what we an gather, APD is investigating an aggravated assault and battery call in the 230 block of Pennsylvania St NE, that was phoned into dispatch at 5:11 PM. APD officers have supposedly located bullet impacts in a building that is located off the 240th block of Pennsylvania St. NE.
This shooting is being investigated by APD’s gun violence reduction unit (GVRU). Reportedly, APD does have a person in custody for the shooting. When their information is made available on MDC, we will post an update.
UPDATE:
We have since learned that the woman who was shot was actually shot in the abdomen, not the leg.
