Albuquerque –

Detectives from the Albuquerque Police Department’s Homicide Unit are initiating an investigation into a fatal shooting that occurred within the Foothills Area Command.

Shortly before 4:00 AM on Wednesday, December 11, APD officers responded to reports of a shooting in the vicinity of Turquoise Ave NE and Copper Avenue NE, which is situated west of Tramway Blvd.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim who had sustained gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Homicide Unit and crime scene specialists will remain in the area for the next several hours as detectives conduct their investigation and crime scene specialists collect evidence.

This is the 127th homicide for the Albuquerque Metro area. APD has classified four other deaths as “suspicious,” which we are presently not counting. Once the OMI determines cause/manner of death for those particular cases, the total number of homicides may change.

  1. I will give the idea way, since I can’t act. Someone can stream daily, a Mr. Rogers version of Albuquerque. Not the SNL Mr. Robbison, but the “Burque” version. “Burque” or “Burquese” (what I call it) the ghetto accent/lifestyle. Call it Mr. Rodriguez, or Mr. Ruiz, or something.

“Choo know what!? I go to the store today, and 5 ____ got capped, and my Tio didn’t even duck, he was just all like- ‘Orale, they’re out of sangwitches already!'”
“Okay, check it out homies, today, some ____ got capped on the east-side… can you say ____!?”
