Ongoing Police Activity Reported in NE ABQ

Albuquerque –

There is an active police presence near Carol St NE and Leyendecker Rd NE, just off Carol and Menaul Blvd NE. The Albuquerque Police Department has been on scene for more than two hours.

Neighbors report hearing what they believed to be two gunshots in the area, though the source of the sounds has not been confirmed.

Albuquerque Fire Rescue is also on scene as officers negotiate with a barricaded individual. The person reportedly has three outstanding warrants.

APD has streets around the area blocked off.

Police took the suspect into custody. Streets should be reopened. A portion of Leyendecker Rd NE near Carol St NE is still closed.
