Albuquerque –
Around 8:10 PM, Albuquerque Fire Rescue was dispatched to 812 San Pedro Dr. SE for a single story residential structure fire. Engine 11 was the first unit to arrive at the scene of the working fire and advised that the residence had been boarded up. Crews reported smoke and active fire showing.
Additional crews arriving on scene continued interior operations, attacking the fire using an offensive strategy and working to clear and search the inside of the structure.
Firefighters also observed that the structure had burned before and noted holes in the roof. Electric service to the residence had reportedly been cut off following a previous fire.
At the time of the fire, AFR requested traffic control assistance from the Albuquerque Police Department, and the New Mexico National Guard was sent to assist. New Mexico National Guard units were temporarily blocking traffic for AFR on San Pedro between Kathryn and Southern.
AFR stated that “the fire was declared under control within 10 minutes. Thirteen apparatus and 32 firefighters responded. The cause is currently under investigation and no further information is available.“
No civilians or firefighters were injured.
