Albuquerque –
Deputies from the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office are currently on scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash involving a passenger vehicle and a semi-truck on Interstate 40 near Route 66 Casino, at approximately mile marker 137.
All six lanes of I-40, including both eastbound and westbound traffic, are currently closed between Route 66 Casino and NM 6.
One person has been confirmed dead at the scene. Reports indicate that three others sustained injuries, with one person reportedly suffering severe injuries.
BCSO advises that the crash remains under investigation, and the roadway closures are expected to cause significant delays in both directions. As a result, motorists are advised to steer clear of the area, opt for alternative routes, and prepare for potentially longer travel times.
Additional information will be made available as BCSO provides it.
Update:
Around 7:38 PM, BCSO reopened lanes of eastbound I-40.
