Albuquerque –
On March 4th, 2026, a concerned neighbor called the Albuquerque Police Department in regards to hearing a window break on a house. The caller said they saw a male subject inside the house. That subject is now identified as 38-year-old Zachary Dana of Albuquerque.
According to a criminal complaint, the neighbor saw Dana smash a window and enter the residence. The neighbor yelled at him to leave. Dana retreated into the house, and shortly after, APD officers arrived on the scene.
APD officers saw Dana inside the house and began giving him commands to surrender to them. Dana had other plans and ran to the front of the house. He broke a window to escape and fled from the officers. A foot chase transpired, and an officer observed a handgun in Dana’s hand. A use of force happened, and Dana was tased.
While on scene, we observed Dana with a taser prong in his neck. Albuquerque Fire Rescue came to the scene to medically clear him. He denied any “incarceritis” symptoms. But, while on scene, an AFR personnel on scene stated they could not remove the taser prong from his neck.
Dana was transported to a local hospital before being booked into the MDC. He faces charges of aggravated burglary, resisting/evading an officer, and criminal damage to property under $1,000.
A few days later, not a shock to the world, he was released from jail.
Dana has a felony record dating back to 2019, with charges ranging from stealing cars and dealing drugs.
