Albuquerque –
Just before 7:00 PM, officers from the Albuquerque Police Department were sent to the 440 block of Barberry St SW in reference to an purported stabbing.
When officers arrived, they found a person with a stab wound to an extremity. Officers applied a tourniquet and provided medical aid until rescue crews arrived.
AFR Engine 7 and Rescue 7, along with Albuquerque Ambulance, provided additional medical care at the scene. The injured person was transported to a local hospital. Their condition was not immediately known.
It was not immediately clear whether anyone had been arrested or what led to the stabbing. We reached out to APD for additional information, including the condition of the person who was stabbed, a possible motive, and whether a possible suspect had been detained, but as of publication, we had not received a response.
UPDATE:
We received an update from APD which stated that police responded to a possible domestic violence-related stabbing call in the area. The incident resulted in non-fatal but serious injuries, and the victim is reported to be in stable condition, according to APD.
Officers are still investigating this call. One person is currently in custody, though it has not yet been determined whether charges will be filed.
If and when more information is released, we will update you.
