Albuquerque –
On June 11th, 2026, the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of 1219 Alameda Blvd NW in reference to a motor vehicle crash involving two vehicles. One of the parties stated he was rear ended and said a “Native American woman was incoherent and smelled of alcohol.: The victim stated the woman fled the scene of the crash.
The drunk driver has been identified as 38-year-old Sheripha Bitsui of Rio Rancho, N.M..
According to the criminal complaint, a person called 911 to report an unknown woman was within his residence and an altercation ensued. He held Bitsui down until BCSO deputies were able to come to the secondary scene. The arresting deputy said Bitsui had bloodshot eyes and the smell of alcohol emitting from her person.
Bitsui refused any DWI tests. It should be noted Bitsui has had DWI convictions in 2012, 2017, and 2022.
On this arrest she was charged with DWI 4th offense, leaving the scene of a crash, open container, and burglary of a dwelling.
