APD Investigates Suspicious Death Near West Mesa High School

Albuquerque –

Detectives with the Albuquerque Police Department are investigating a suspicious death in the 700 block of 72nd St NW.

Officers responded to a residence in the Southwest Area Command after a deceased person was found at the location.

Investigators are working with the Office of the Medical Investigator to confirm the identity of the deceased. The cause of death has not yet been determined.

The investigation remains active, and additional information will be provided if it is released by APD.

We responded to the scene, but found that APD had already cleared from the area.

APD initially sent an email stating, “SWAT personnel was also on scene awaiting the execution of search warrants.” However, a subsequent email clarified that the SWAT activity was not at this location. Instead, it was related to a separate ongoing investigation, but unrelated to the death investigation. The email advised APD’s SWAT unit served search warrants this morning at two locations: a residence in Rio Rancho and another in the 3900 block of Lafayette NE.
