Unhinged Ticking Time Bomb Arrested by BCSO, Suspect Had Violent Record Prior to Arrest

According to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, they have now arrested Kenneth Bair, 60, following an investigation into reports of an armed individual in the Ventana Ranch area. The man sparked much debate in the city online about his right to open carry in our state.

Bair ‘s picture was posted on several popular neighborhood groups wearing tactical gear with different guns and even a knife sporting all black clothing. BCSO had previously released information regarding reports of an armed individual walking through the Ventana Ranch area.

Bair is now being charged with harassment, aggravated stalking, and aggravated assault. The charges stem from his actions on August 10, 2026. He is accused of tampering with multiple residential security cameras in the area. Investigators worked to identify and locate Bair, while simultaneously investigating the circumstances surrounding the reported conduct.

According to the criminal complaint, Bair approached the residence of a police officer and the officer’s wife, who was a civilian government employee, on several occasions. He began to record the home and was agitated in his mannerisms. He carried an AR-style rifle and had a holstered handgun on his hip. It goes on to say the security camera caught Bair saying:

“Go ahead, come on out here. With your badge, tyrant mother fuckers. Fuck this shit. Want to go after my wife and my child? Here I am!, You don’t want to come out, HA, K.!”

During another instance he said: “What? you like to just beat people up and not at your own home? Dirty pigs, man. They hide this shit. It’s amazing. You won’t hide it from me. I WILL take you out. I WILL take you out!”

BCSO released a statement saying they recognize and respect lawful firearm ownership and the right to lawfully open carry in New Mexico. They went on to say this investigation was not based solely on the fact that an individual was openly carrying firearms. Investigators considered the totality of the reported conduct and circumstances that caused residents to fear for their safety.

It seems Bair has targeted police officers and their families in this latest incident. But a deeper review of Bair’s prior arrests reveals a violent criminal history dating back to 1986, according to court records. Per NM Courts, he had two DWI arrests between June 1986 and October 1990, both purportedly involved having an open container in the vehicle. Bair had previously been arrested on charges of aggravated DWI, his third DWI offense, in 2008, and attempting to commit a felony involving possession of a controlled substance, specifically a narcotic drug, in 2017.

Many of the more recent cases, from 2023-2024, involve allegations of domestic violence against members of his own family in Albuquerque and Rio Rancho. Court records also show several instances in which Bair barricaded himself inside his residence, refusing to come out and face the consequences of his alleged actions.

One case revealed he beat his son causing massive bruising, and it involved some choking. On that case he even threatened his family with a 9MM gun. The complaint says he even choked out his own son in a MMA like move. Another relative intervened to protect the son and was observed by police with redness around the left side of their neck, bruising on the outer left triceps and left elbow, and a scrape.

It seems many commenters online were quick to defend this raging lunatic before knowing his violent tendencies. This is not the type of man who should be roaming around neighborhoods open carrying any type of firearm at all while families and their children are playing and living in the same neighborhood.

It should be noted that the majority of these cases were resolved through plea agreements or dismissed with prejudice. As we have previously reported in cases involving domestic violence, some cases are dismissed when the victim or victims decline to cooperate with the prosecution.

Investigators do believe there may be additional victims or witnesses who have not yet reported their interactions with Bair.
