Third Homicide Callout in 38 Hours: Elderly Man Found Fatally Stabbed to Death at War Zone ABQ Apartment

Homicide detectives with the Albuquerque Police Department are investigating a death reported this morning at an apartment located at 950 Louisiana Blvd. SE.

Around 7:30 AM, officers responded to a call at the apartment. When officers arrived, an elderly male victim was located with what appeared to be a stab wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to APD, one person has been detained for questioning.

This marks the third homicide callout in approximately 38 hours.

On September 3, at approximately 5:25 PM, an attempted stabbing near I-40 and Louisiana reportedly escalated into a violent altercation. The driver was nearly stabbed, while the suspected attacker was critically injured after reportedly being dragged along Louisiana Bl NE.

Later that evening, at approximately 10 PM, a man was fatally shot near the Chase Bank at Coors and Central. Two suspects were reportedly seen fleeing the scene.

The violence continued Friday afternoon. At approximately 1:50 PM, a person was stabbed and robbed near San Mateo and Prospect. The offender reportedly fled the area. That victim is recovering at UNMH.

Then, around 2:40 PM on Friday, a man was shot and killed in downtown Albuquerque. The suspect also fled the scene. That night, the Albuquerque Police Department issued a “be on the lookout” advisory for 36-year-old Juan Maestas. APD said Maestas is believed to be “ARMED and DANGEROUS” and is wanted in connection with the downtown homicide and a shooting that occurred September 2. On Saturday, APD sent an email out just before noon advising Maestas was arrested around 7:30 AM on September 5.

Then, today on Saturday, September 5, APD homicide detectives were called out to this homicide at The Loop @ 950 Apartments.
