A local resident shared some information about the fire and sent us some photos. The pictures showed AFR’s Ladder 5 performing vertical ventilation on the roof, with smoke coming from the structure. Engine 9 assumed command and deployed an attack line for fire suppression. Engine 12 supported operations by securing a water supply, while Engine 13 advanced a backup line.

At around 9:00 AM, AFR declared the fire under control. At least one other resident of the home was reportedly on-site while AFR worked to extinguish the blaze. No firefighters were injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM) is en route to disconnect electricity. The New Mexico Gas Company arrived at 9:05 AM to shut off the gas supply to the property.

If we learn any more information from AFR, we will update you.

UPDATE:

In an update from AFR, they stated:

The fire was confined to the rear bedroom with minor extension into the attic and hallway. There was water and smoke damage throughout the home. Subsequent searches were negative. The residents will be displaced and are working with Red Cross. No firefighters were injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
