Medic 5 arrived on scene and confirmed a working fire. The crew requested the balance of a first-alarm assignment and initiated a primary search. Ladder 5 arrived shortly afterward and assisted with search operations. During the search, crews from Medic 5 and Ladder 5 safely rescued three dogs from the residence. The remainder of the primary search was negative.

Engine 13 arrived and deployed a 1¾-inch handline to attack the fire, which was contained to a single room and its contents. Crews successfully extinguished the fire, bringing it under control within six minutes of arrival.

The occupants are being assisted by the American Red Cross following a referral from AFR.

Fire investigators responded to the scene and determined the fire was accidental in nature, caused by a candle that had been left burning.

A total of 13 apparatus and 35 firefighters responded to the incident.

There were no reported injuries to the residents or AFR firefighters.
