AFR crews arrived to find multiple fires burning behind the strip mall, with flames impinging on the building. Firefighters initiated an aggressive fire attack and successfully brought the fire under control within eight minutes of arrival, preventing further damage to the structure.

Simultaneously, crews confirmed that all employees had evacuated safely. Firefighters conducted a secondary search of the building to ensure no individuals had been overlooked. The building’s fire alarm system was actively sounding upon arrival, assisting with the evacuation.

Fire damage was contained to the Smith’s loading dock area. Firefighters used positive pressure ventilation to remove residual smoke from the structure. No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported. Adjacent businesses were not impacted by fire, smoke, or activation of their fire protection systems.

AFR’s Fire Investigations Division responded to determine the origin and cause of the incident. Investigators are currently reviewing reports suggesting the fire may have been intentionally set. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
