At approximately 7:19 PM on July 31, Albuquerque Fire Rescue was dispatched to the Crossroads Motel at 1001 Central Ave NE for reports of a possible structure fire. AFR’s Medic 3 arrived first on scene and reported a working fire in a two-story multi-family dwelling, with a small fire in the wall on the east side of the building.

Crews initiated an aggressive attack and quickly accessed the origin of the fire. The incident was brought under control within 20 minutes. Fire damage was confined primarily to several rooms and the exterior east wall, minimizing extension to the rest of the structure.
According to AFR’s PIO, there were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported.

AFR stated that AFR Fire Investigators responded to the scene and are working to determine the origin and cause of the fire. As of this publication, the cause remains undetermined.
Four occupants have been displaced due to the incident. AFR is coordinating with property management to assess the need for alternate housing. If necessary, AFR will involve the Red Cross for housing assistance.
