Albuquerque –
An Albuquerque Police Department officer arrived at 8th St SW and Atlantic Ave SW around 11:20 PM to investigate a vehicle that had allegedly crashed into a wall. Authorities had also received an earlier report of a gunshot in the area.
When the APD officer approached the vehicle, they found a person inside the vehicle with a gunshot wound. APD officers immediately began rendering medical aid, as AFR was still en route.
We learned that the individual who was shot died from their injuries. APD Homicide detectives are now en route with this being their second call out in less than six hours.
APD is blocking off streets in the area to conduct an investigation.
If we learn more, we will update you.
UPDATE:
At 8:55 AM, APD sent a media release saying the victim in this incident had not been identified.
