Albuquerque –
Just before 10:05 PM, officers with the Albuquerque Police Department responded to the 3400 block of Crest Ave SE, near Amherst Dr SE and Crest Ave SE, after a 911 caller reported that a person had been shot at least once.
Upon arrival, officers located an individual with a gunshot wound. Albuquerque Ambulance Service and medical personnel from Albuquerque Fire Rescue’s Rescue 2 transported the victim to a local hospital. The person who was shot was initially reported to have non-life-threatening injuries at the scene. After being transported to a local hospital, their injuries were found to be more serious and potentially life-threatening, and they underwent surgery.
This shooting will be investigated by APD’s Gun Violence Reduction Unit. GVRU typically responds to investigate cases in which victims are initially expected to survive gunshot wounds. However, in some instances victims later die as a result of their injuries days after the initial police response. In these cases, APD’s Homicide Unit would assume the investigation.
APD is actively searching for the suspect.
If more information becomes available, we will provide updates.
