Detectives from the Albuquerque Police Department are currently investigating two separate fatal shootings that occurred overnight in Albuquerque.

Following reports of gunfire at 525 San Pedro Dr. N.E. around 1:00AM, APD officers promptly arrived at the scene where they discovered an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Tragically, the victim died to his injuries on-site. Homicide detectives were promptly summoned to begin an investigation.
Approximately two hours later, officers stationed in Downtown Albuquerque responded to reports of another shooting near 608 Copper Ave. N.W., close to 6th Street, just north of Central Ave. Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots in the vicinity. Upon arrival, officers found a male victim lying on the ground, confirmed deceased. Homicide detectives have initiated an investigation into this incident as well.
This is the fourth homicide since April 1st, BCSO is investigating one and APD is working three.

- April 6, 2024 – 525 San Pedro Dr. N.E – APD
- April 6, 2024 – 608 Copper Ave. N.W – APD
APD is requesting that individuals possessing any information relevant to either of these shootings are urged to contact APD at 505-242-COPS.
Update:
Kenneth Ellis, 40 years old, has been identified as the victim of the deadly shooting at 525 San Pedro Dr. N.E, as confirmed by his wife. Our reporter was approached by his wife at the scene, who disclosed that Ellis had been shot in the back of the head. Having recently turned 40 in August, Ellis leaves behind his grieving wife.
