APD Resolves Nearly 7-Hour SWAT Standoff at Eubank Storage Facility

Just after 12:45 PM, the Albuquerque Police Department received a dispatch to 201 Eubank Blvd SE regarding reports of a trespassing individual who refused to vacate the Extra Space Storage on Eubank, near the Walgreens on Central and Eubank.

According to reports, the manager of Extra Space discovered an individual residing in a storage unit and instructed them to leave the premises. The individual purportedly refused to comply, prompting a police response. At some point,APD mobilized its SWAT team to detain the individual at the location.

An eyewitness saw APD tactical officers on the roof of the Extra Space Storage unit, issuing announcements for the barricaded individual to surrender. APD dispatched two BearCats to the scene in an attempt to apprehend the individual; whether they have other outstanding warrants remains unknown.

APD ultimately apprehended the individual just after 7:30 PM, concluding a six-and-a-half-hour SWAT operation. We saw medical personnel checking out the person on the scene.
