Albuquerque –
Officers from the Albuquerque Police Department are presently looking for an offender who stole and then ditched a vehicle in the 1100 block of Valencia Dr SE. At no time during this incident did officers pursue the stolen car, the car was followed from the skies by Air 2, APD’s Air Support Unit. Air 2 observed the offender attempting to discard multiple bags containing unidentified items at a different location before driving away and subsequently abandoning the vehicle on Valencia Dr.
There is a police presence at Ross Ave SE and Anderson Ave SE and Ross Ave SE and Valencia Dr SE.
Wilson Middle School and Holy Ghost Catholic School are being asked to release students on the east side of the school.
We have reporters at both locations, the scene where police are searching for the car thief and where the offender dumped items. If we learn more, we will update you.
UPDATE:
As of 4:02 PM, APD officers conducted a search of an apartment in the vicinity but were unable to locate the offender.
