Joshua Matthew Dominguez

Case Number: D-202-CR-2024-00890

  • Second Degree Murder
  • Tampering with Evidence (Highest Crime a Capital, First or Second Degree Felony)
  • Conspiracy to Commit Tampering with Evidence (Capital Crime or 1st or 2nd Degree Felony)

The trial of Joshua Dominguez and David Haro is underway in connection with the March 15, 2024, killing of an unidentified woman. The two defendants are facing charges including second-degree murder, conspiracy and tampering with evidence.

According to police and court records, investigators allege the two male defendants and a third person confronted the woman after she was found near Dominguez’s vehicle. Surveillance video reviewed by detectives showed multiple people assaulting the woman before a light-colored Honda CR-V struck her at least twice. Investigators later reported finding fresh blood on the vehicle.

Dominguez and Destiny Marquez were arrested on March 15, 2024, the day of the killing. Haro was arrested April 1, 2024, after detectives located him at an Albuquerque apartment complex.

Marquez, Haro’s daughter, was the third defendant in the case. According to court records, she entered a plea agreement in November 2024. She later attempted to withdraw her plea in September 2025, but that request was reportedly denied in January 2026. Court records indicate Marquez subsequently appealed the decision to a higher court. We reached out to an official with the Second Judicial District Attorney’s Office for confirmation regarding Marquez’s case and whether she is appealing. The DA’s office said officials are researching our inquiry.

The woman killed in the case has never been publicly identified by the Albuquerque Police Department.

Dominguez and Haro’s trial was underway as of 9 AM on Monday, August 17, 2026, with Judge David A. Murphy presiding. The case has reportedly gone to the jury.

UPDATE:

Shortly after publication, we received word that a jury had found Joshua Dominguez and David Haro guilty on all charges. Sentencing is scheduled to be announced at a later date.

The Second Judicial District Attorney’s Office confirmed that Destiny Marquez is appealing her plea deal.

Courts presume that the defendant is innocent unless and until the prosecution secures a conviction through due process. This means the defendant remains legally not guilty unless the prosecution proves the charge beyond a reasonable doubt and a jury returns a verdict of guilty.

All charges mentioned are drawn from official New Mexico Courts/Odyssey filings for the listed cases. Charges may be dropped, amended, or declined to be prosecuted at the time of trial or as part of a plea agreement.
