Albuquerque –
Around 10AM, the Albuquerque Police Department was following a white sedan in Southwest Albuquerque. The driver got scared of the police presence and took off at a high rate of speed. Officers were not engaged in a chase but observed the car crash into several other vehicles at the intersection of Coors and Fortuna.
The man exited his crashed vehicle and went to a silver sedan. The maniac driver pulled two people out of one of the cars he crashed into and proceeded to drive it like he stole it. The man drove away from the scene at a high rate of speed.
The victim had their phone in the car and was able to give police GPS coordinates in real time as the car fled. Police were able to track the vehicle near a ditch embankment near the North Diversion Channel Basin near 4th street. The suspect was no longer near the car and muddy foot prints indicated he headed west into the Bosque with a clean escape.
A massive police presence swarmed the Bosque area to try to find this man. Air Support and an APD drone was used to try to find this man. He was not located and the search was called off.
We will update this story if we learn anymore information.
UPDATE:
Bernalillo County Sheriff deputies took the wanted man into custody around 3:30PM on Paseo del Bosque which is south of where he ditched the car. Neighbors called in a suspicious man roaming the affluent neighborhood. BCSO deputies found him in a barn.
