Deranged Individual Flees APD Then Lights Apartment Ablaze, 1 Suspect in Custody

Albuquerque –

Today at around 12:30PM, the Albuquerque Police Department was searching for a burglary suspect and was able to locate him lurking near the international war zone district. APD established a perimeter in the area of 1100 Madeira SE to take the suspect into custody.

The suspect went onto the 1130 Madeira SE apartment complex property and while APD was holding the perimeter a fire started at the complex. APD went into action and immediately took a male suspect into custody. It appears the suspect was the only one being medically treated at the scene due to the fire.

The scene was secured by APD and Albuquerque Fire Rescue was able to battle the fire at the apartment complex. AFR worked the fire and got it contained in less than 30 minutes. The suspect was evaluated by medical personnel and was being transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

Once the suspect is medically evaluated he will most likely face a host of felony level charges for his arson behavior and misdemeanors for fleeing the police.
