According to a criminal complaint, Sandoval was yelling derogatory statements to people in the area and began driving toward people trying to run them over. Sandoval slowly drove toward APD police units at a slow pace. He stopped and was given commands to exit the vehicle. He was taken into custody without incident.

The complaint goes on to say Sandoval was yelling at people and accelerating towards homeless tents with people in them. He made a finger gun gesture and said he was going to kill people. He exited the vehicle with a knife and said “I’ll take your life.” He got back into the vehicle and then hit multiple objects along the sidewalk.

APD found that Sandoval had hit one of the people on the sidewalk and the victim had discoloration on her leg.

The complaint goes on to say that police found an empty bottle of Crown Royal Whiskey and a knife on the floorboard of the truck. They observed Sandoval was under the influence of alcohol and he gave a breath test. He showed an amount above the legal limit.

Sandoval was charged with 6 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, criminal damage to property under $1,000, leaving the scene of an accident, open container, and aggravated DWI.
