Albuquerque –
On March 8, shortly after 11:30 AM, Albuquerque Fire Rescue was dispatched to the Walmart located at 400 Eubank Blvd NE in response to reports of a potential Commercial Building Structure Fire.
Engine 12 arrived at the scene and reported a large commercial building with some smoke visible on the interior coming from the HVAC vents in the ceiling. Firefighters extinguished the fire within 10 minutes of their arrival. The fire primarily damaged a single rooftop HVAC unit.
Multiple eyewitnesses reported that several fire crews and rescue units responded. Consequently, both shoppers and employees were successfully evacuated from the store. During the incident, Walmart employees were relocate to the Wendy’s restaurant while AFR investigated and mitigated the fire hazard.
No injuries of civilians or firefighters were reported.
AFR confirms Walmart will temporarily close for minor repairs and resume normal operations shortly. No additional information available at this time.
