Albuquerque –
Around 12:30PM on September 17th, 2025, we received numerous reports of traffic being diverted off eastbound I-40 on the Carlisle exit.
We went to the scene and saw New Mexico State Police and Albuquerque Police locking the area down. There were police units in a square pattern blocking a body.
New Mexico State Police has informed us that the person killed on the interstate was wanted felon 53-year-old Dale Hinds of Mountainair, New Mexico. The went on to say:
“A NMSP officer was traveling EB on I-40 when he observed a pickup truck stopped in the far right lane of the Carlisle exit intersection, obstructing traffic. The officer then stopped to provide assistance. The officer learned the truck was reported stolen. The sole occupant of the vehicle was identified as Dale Hinds (53). Hinds also had active felony warrants for Resisting/ Evading, Aggravated Fleeing, Criminal Trespass, Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Criminal Damage to Property.
Hinds then fled from the officer on foot towards I-40. He ran across eastbound lanes of traffic on I-40 and attempted to cross over the westbound lanes of traffic before being struck by a vehicle. Hinds was pronounced deceased on scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator.
This case remains under investigation by the New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau.”
