Just before 11:30 AM, fire crews responded to a large fire at a junkyard at 3280 Bridge Blvd SW, which is off Coors Blvd SW between Tower Rd SW and Bridge Blvd SW. The Albuquerque Police Department arrived on the scene first and reported that a large number of tires were on fire, officers stated that the blaze appeared to be centrally located in the middle of the junkyard. Albuquerque Fire Rescue is on scene, actively working to knock down the flames.

At least eight units from AFR are currently on scene. As of this publication, it is uncertain whether Bernalillo County Fire Department has any units providing assistance.

We have received numerous messages about this fire. The video below was sent to us by Thomas Youngman.

UPDATE:

When this fire was first reported, dispatch received the location as Coors and Tower Rd. However, witnesses indicated the point of origin was closer to Bridge and Coors. The map below shows the approximate location.

As of 2:00 PM, AFR and BCFR crews remain on scene at the junkyard, working to fully knock down the fire.
