GRAPHIC STORY: Local Musician Charged with Molesting 5-Year-Old, Not First Time in Offending

64-year-old local musician Samuel Miera was arrested on two charges of sex crimes related to molesting a 5-year-old child. Miera plays at local venues under the band name Samuel D Band.

According to a criminal complaint, the 5-year-old’s father contacted the Albuquerque Police Department after the child demonstrated behaviors not normal for a child. The victim would get angry with parents during morning routines and bath times.

The parents also indicated the victim’s body had some abnormalities with rashes and irritation in private part areas.

The complaint states that the child would be left at a relative’s house. Miera would hang out at the house and the child told investigators Miera would touch lower parts of her body. He said he told her “not to tell” and “I want to touch you alot.” The victim told Miera to stop multiple times.

The victim states she wants Miera dead.

Miera is charged with criminal sexual penetration and criminal sexual contact of a minor under 13.

Miera had a conviction for sexual contact with someone under 13, bribery of a witness, and criminal sexual penetration of a child under 13 in 2006. He tried to appeal the conviction and was denied.

In 2025, he was ordered to register as a sex offender and is currently on the list.
