“It’s Over, bro!!!!” APD and State Police Catch Habitual Motorcycle Racer

Albuquerque –

Late last night, the Albuquerque Police Department and New Mexico State Police teamed up to catch a motorcycle rider who was weaving in and out of traffic, fleeing from law enforcement traffic stops, and speeding well above the limit in Albuquerque. The rider was identified as 23-year-old Coby Anderson of Albuquerque.

APD’s Air Support was able to observe Anderson speeding throughout Albuquerque and helped ground units locate him. Eventually, Anderson was caught near the Albuquerque Convention Center when an APD officer saw him and pursued him on foot.

APD released body cam and aerial video from the arrest, and one clip shows an APD officer locating Anderson. The APD officer got out of his patrol unit and began a foot chase with Anderson, who had his helmet on and was trying to outrun the police.

“It’s over, bro,” yelled the APD officer as he chased Anderson on foot. The officer used some two-hand-touch football skills and pushed Anderson causing him to fall to the ground.

Soon after, a New Mexico State Police officer put Anderson in custody. Although Anderson was wearing his helmet, it was considered a use of force, so Albuquerque Fire was called to the scene to medically clear him.

According to the criminal complaint, Anderson turned around into oncoming traffic to go the wrong way northbound on southbound lanes of the Comanche on ramp on I-25.

He was taken to MDC and booked on 10 counts of aggravated fleeing, 3 counts of racing on streets, and resisting/evading arrest and multiple other traffic offenses witnessed by APD Air Support.

It should be noted Anderson has several moving violations in the last 2 years, that included criminal levels of speeding.

  1. Now if APD could just catch up to the other thousands of butt-head crotch rocket drivers who have nothing better to do than cruise our streets at 10,000 rpm all day and night…

  2. We need vehicle forfeiture legislation for this type activity along with a revoked license for life with mandatory months in jail if they are caught driving while revoked.

  3. A felonious squid giving motorcycle riders a bad name. The police should stake out the west end of Paseo almost any night, lots of high speed runs by both cars and motorcycles.

  4. What a POS he’s probably out of jail. ‍♀️‍♀️ our officers put their lives on the line & the idiot judges dismiss cases!!! Til something bad happens to their families!!!!

  5. Poor, sweet baby is still in jail (8/6). I guess ten counts of ‘aggravated eluding law enforcement’ can actually count for something in Abq, at least if you don’t know a politician or judge.
    Rot in Peace, Speedy!
