Around 9:20 AM, officers from the Albuquerque Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash at Presbyterian Hospital, located at 1100 Central Avenue SE. According to preliminary reports, a juvenile pedestrian was struck by a vehicle.

Details are limited, but when officers arrived, the juvenile, who reportedly is under the age of six years old, was in extremely critical condition.

Emergency medical crews purportedly transported the child to the University of New Mexico Hospital.

On scene, we observed numerous officers from APD and security from Presbyterian Hospital. The area just south of the roundabout for the main entrance of the hospital was taped off.

APD’s Motor Unit was called to the scene to investigate due to the severity of the juvenile’s injuries.

UPDATE:

We have learned that the child struck by a vehicle this morning has died as a result of their injuries.

According to APD, officers continue to investigate a fatal crash involving a 5-year-old girl that occurred in the parking lot of Presbyterian Hospital Downtown at 1100 Central Avenue SE.

Police say the child and her father were crossing in a marked crosswalk when a pickup truck pulling a trailer struck the child. She was taken into the hospital’s emergency room, but she later died from her injuries.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.

UPDATE 2:

Around 7:05 PM, we received an update from APD which said:

There were no signs of impairment. At this point, no charges have been filed. The girl is actually 4 years old. Her father was not injured.
