Man Fatally Shot on Route 66; APD Investigating

Albuquerque –

Around 8:30 AM, officers from the Albuquerque Police Department responded to a shooting in the vicinity of the Sundowner Apartments. This is located at 6101 Central Ave NE, which is near Central Ave NE and Cagua Dr NE.

Upon their arrival, officers found a male who had been shot near the Circle K at 6300 Central Ave. The male was transported to the University of New Mexico Hospital, but later died as a result of his wounds.

A significant stretch of Central Avenue, both eastbound and westbound, has been shut down as the investigation continues. Reportedly, there are multiple scenes that APD is investigating. Details remain limited, but APD homicide detectives are on scene.
