On 12/26/2024 at approximately 7:55 pm, Albuquerque Fire Rescue was dispatched to the intersection of University and Menaul for a significant motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles to include a semi and one pedestrian.

Engine 13 arrived on scene and reported two vehicles and a pedestrian involved with a total of two patients, both of them with critical injuries. A total of twelve units were dispatched to the scene to establish extrication, treatment, triage and transport operations.

Due to the severity and amount of damage sustained in the accident, one of the patients needed to be extricated.

Two AFR Rescue’s transported all patients from the scene to local hospitals. It is unknown what caused the accident.

APD will remain on scene to conduct their investigation. It should note Albuquerque Fire provided this information to media. APD’s public information has not sent any information on the crash.

  1. My wife was behind the young man in black car and help aid him. She said he ran a red light and crashed into the semi. The pedestrian hot smothered in diesel fuel walking by when crash occurred. That’s her version.
