Albuquerque –
On November 1, 2026, at approximately 12:42 AM, deputies from the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Bridge and Atrisco.
Upon arrival, deputies and emergency personnel located several injured individuals. One female occupant was pronounced deceased at the scene. Both drivers sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Investigation Unit also responded to investigate the crash.
The preliminary investigation, which included witness statements and physical evidence collected at the scene, indicates that a white Hyundai Santa Cruz was traveling westbound on Bridge at a high rate of speed when it entered the intersection against a red traffic signal. The vehicle then collided with a Hyundai Tucson traveling southbound through the intersection.
Alcohol was determined to be a contributing factor in the crash. The driver of the Hyundai Santa Cruz, identified as Osvaldo Valenzuela, was arrested and charged with Homicide by Motor Vehicle.
The investigation remains ongoing.
