Person Barricaded in Home in SE ABQ, Police on Scene

Albuquerque –

There is ongoing police activity in the 900 block of Washington St SE, which is between Anderson Ave SE and Ross Ave SE.

The Albuquerque Police Department is attempting to negotiate with an individual who has barricaded themselves inside a residence. It is reported that an elderly individual is also present within the dwelling.

APD has been making public announcements for the person to come out for at least an hour. The SWAT team has been called to the scene to try to resolve the situation.

If we learn more about this incident or when the situation is resolved, we will update you.

UPDATE:

Minutes before 4:00 PM, a man in a white t-shirt surrendered to SWAT officers. The man has a felony warrant.

We will update you once he is booked into MDC.

We are unaware of the status of the other individual who was allegedly present in the home with the man. During the incident, she was reportedly talking with the police officers on the scene, but during the police activity, she had declined to exit the house.

Around 4:55 PM, streets in the area were reopened.
