PNM Reporting Downed Lines, Small Outages in ABQ Due to High Winds

Albuquerque –

The Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM) reports numerous outages throughout the city of Albuquerque, reportedly caused by high winds resulting in downed power lines.

At the time of this posting, there are 15 outages in Bernalillo County, affecting approximately 2,214 customers. You can view the PNM outage map HERE.

Around 11:30 AM, Albuquerque Fire Rescue responded to a fire call and requested assistance from PNM. Dispatch informed firefighters on the scene that PNM crews were presently responding to numerous reports of downed lines, and repairs were expected to take between 3 to 4 hours.

At approximately 12:40 PM, AFR was dispatched to a report of downed or arcing lines at the intersection of Arenal Rd & Tapia Blvd. According to reports, they promptly severed the lines and relocated them from the roadway. PNM has been informed about the situation and will conduct repairs as soon as their crews become available. Since 10:00 AM, AFR has been summoned to address at least four similar incidents involving downed or arcing lines.
