Details remain somewhat limited at this time but streets in the area have been blocked since shortly before 2:30 PM on Sunday, when APD officers from the Foothills Area Command began responding and restricting access in and out of the area.

Officers were called to the listed area around 2:15 PM after a food-delivery driver said a resident pointed a handgun at him and actually fired rounds. The resident retreated into the apartment and officers responded. The driver was not injured.

Officers have attempted to communicate with the man since then.

Around 4:35 PM, APD sent an update saying APD SWAT officers have now entered the chat and are taking over efforts to negotiate a resolution with the suspect who is barricaded inside the apartment.

Residents in the area are advised to follow all instructions from APD officers and shelter in place if directed to do so.

Further information will be provided if and when it becomes available.
