Albuquerque –
Around 2:20 PM, officers with the Albuquerque Police Department responded to a stabbing at the French Quarter Apartments, located at 1101 Palomas Dr SE. Officers were advised by the 911 caller that at least one person had been stabbed.
Upon arrival, APD officers located an individual believed to be the suspect near Anderson Ave. and Madeira Dr. SE. They were detained for questioning.
Officers then located a person who had sustained at least one stab wound. They were transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
If we learn more about this incident or the person detained by APD officers, we will provide an update.
UPDATE:
We have learned that the Albuquerque Police Department arrested 52-year-old Geraldine Begay after she was accused of stabbing another woman at the French Quarter Apartments, located at 1101 Palomas Dr. SE.
The 59-year-old victim was found with a stab wound to the shoulder and was transported to a local hospital. The victim reportedly underwent emergency surgery for their injury.
The victim, who was initially reported to be in critical condition, is now listed in stable condition.
Begay will be booked into the Metro Detention Center on a count of Aggravated Battery – Felony (Great Bodily Harm or Deadly Weapon).
