The victim told officers he had been threatened by Alex Gamboa, who allegedly approached him while holding a gold-colored kitchen knife and made repeated threats to kill him. The complaint states that Gamboa told the victim that “he had killed people in both Mexico and the United States.” The victim told police he was in fear for his life when a second suspect, later identified as Jeremy Chavez, came out of the mobile home and told Gamboa to leave. As Gamboa fled the scene on foot, he made threats to return and kill the victim.

According to the complaint, Chavez then turned his attention to the victim, approaching him aggressively and yelling in his face. Chavez is accused of throwing the first punch, leading to a brief physical altercation. Two other unidentified individuals reportedly threatened to “jump” the victim during the fight before allegedly fleeing over a fence.

A witness confirmed the victim’s account, stating that Gamboa had brandished the knife and issued threats before leaving, and that Chavez initiated the physical fight.

Officers later located Gamboa near Central Ave and Volcano Rd, matching the description provided. A backpack in his possession, which was partially unzipped, was found to contain a gold-colored kitchen knife. He was taken into custody and later arrested on charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and evidence tampering. While in transport to the prisoner transport center, Gamboa purportedly made unsolicited statements claiming he had been standing 100 feet away from the victim with the knife.

Chavez was also detained at the scene. Chavez stated to officers that he believed he had an outstanding felony warrant. Officers confirmed the outstanding felony warrant, and he was arrested. As of this publication, there are no charges for the assault.

The victim declined to be transported to the hospital for their injuries.

Gamboa and Chavez were booked into MDC on April 14th.
