Two Dead in Crash on I-40 Near Rio Puerco

Around 3:30AM tweeted, Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Deputies and first responders are currently on scene at I-40 eastbound approximately mile marker 140, following a crash resulting in multiple fatalities. That mile marker is near Rio Puerco.

Eastbound I-40 was closed along with the #1 lane westbound during the investigation. Please avoid the area and plan alternate routes.

According to BCSO Deputy and PIO Conor Otero he said, two individuals were killed in the crash. The cause of the crash and any criminal charges will be determined through the investigation. But one semi did cross over from Westbound I-40 into the Eastbound lanes.
