Two Separate Crashes Under Investigation, Including Hit-and-Run

The Albuquerque Police Department is investigating two separate crashes that occurred late on Friday evening.

Around 10:40 PM, officers were dispatched to the area of Morris St and Candelaria Rd NE for an accident involving a motorcycle and a vehicle. Albuquerque Fire Rescue Engine 16 and Rescue 16 also responded.

Upon arrival, crews from AFR treated at least one person for injuries. Rescue 16 transported them to a local area hospital. Their exact condition is not known.

APD had streets in the area blocked off while awaiting an update on the condition of the injured person and as officers on scene began their accident investigation.

At 10:55 PM, officers were called to a vehicle versus pedestrian hit-and-run crash at Vermont St NE and Central Ave SE.

When officers arrived, they located a pedestrian with a fractured leg. A witness to the collision provided a description of the car that fled the scene.

Albuquerque Fire Rescue’s Engine 5 and Rescue 5, and Albuquerque Ambulance 9, rendered medical aid to the injured person while APD canvassed the area for the fleeing vehicle. AAS 9 transported the pedestrian to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Just after 11 PM, an APD officer located a vehicle believed to be the one described by the witness at the Circle K at Wyoming Blvd NE and Central Ave. It remains unclear whether the driver was located or detained for questioning.
