Albuquerque –
This morning around 10 AM, we noticed a huge police and CABQ personnel response happening at the Barcelona Suites, located at 900 Louisiana Blvd. NE, near Lomas Blvd. NE. It appeared that city personnel were in the process of shutting down another problem motel, which attracts many unsavory types to its doors.
We observed AFR inspectors, code enforcement, ACS, Animal Control, and APD officers working together, going door to door inside the motel. The building was built in the early ’80s and was the location of hundreds of wedding parties over the years, and boasted of luxury and a prime location to city attractions. The last major renovation was in 2005, but it has seen a great decline in recent years.
We will most likely get a notification from the city soon about a press conference being held, showing it all boarded up and condemned, like a few other motels in the past few months.
We will update this story when we learn more information.
