Albuquerque –
Homicide detectives from the Albuquerque Police Department secretly investigated a deadly shooting that occurred early Sunday in Southeast Albuquerque.
APD PIO’s told us today that officers responded to reports of a shooting Sunday at 1014 Valencia Dr. S.E. Upon their arrival, they located a man with gunshot wounds. The man died at the scene as a result of his injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
Editor’s Note:
The Albuquerque Police Department failed to report to the media and public that the deadly shooting on Valencia Dr even happened until almost a day after it occurred. It remains unclear whether the suspect has been apprehended.
As we have reported at length, APD employs hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of PIO’s and it is unclear why none of them are available on Sunday mornings to do their job and report significant events.
With the Mayoral election underway, one can only speculate whether the delay in reporting reflects a broader issue of transparency.
