Officers have been on scene since before 10 AM, initially responding to a reported dispute between neighbors. During the investigation, police discovered that the subject had an active warrant. This warrant stems from an incident that occurred in early April, where the suspect allegedly threatened a neighbor with a firearm and threatened to shoot them. It is unclear whether today’s dispute involves the same neighbor.

APD SWAT team are working to negotiate with the individual to surrender. Videos shared by bystanders appear to show the suspect barricaded inside a building as police issue repeated commands to surrender.

The public is asked to avoid the area. Officers and Police Service Aides have multiple streets in the area blocked off.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
