APD Criminally Summons Person Who Vandalized Police Station During Protest

Albuquerque –

On October 22nd, 2026, 20 or so protesters marched to the south side front steps of the Albuquerque Police and Bernalillo County Main Police Headquarters. Their grievances were over police brutality.

During the event, a few people spray painted the front doors of the police station. They also smeared handprints with red paint on the doors. The APD Main has a lot of cameras around the property including PTZ models that allow to zoom in on things.

We reached out to APD to see if anyone was arrested and acting Communications Director Rebecca Atkins sent out this statement:

“During demonstrations like last night’s, the Albuquerque Police Department prioritizes the safety of everyone present, including demonstrators, community members, and officers. We have established procedures and practices for these events that are designed to protect people’s right to peacefully assemble while keeping the situation from escalating. That doesn’t mean unlawful behavior is overlooked. One individual has already been issued a summons in connection with last night’s incident, and APD continues to work on identifying others responsible for damaging department property. Anyone found to have broken the law will be held accountable.“

APD identified the person as Brian Quincy Mcquaid.

We will follow up with APD on whether or not they find and identify more suspects.
