The Albuquerque Police Department’s Fatal Crash Unit is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred on Albuquerque’s West Side on Thursday. Two motorcycles collided with a vehicle.
The rider of one motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene following the crash, which happened just before 8 PM at Coors Blvd and Westside Dr NW. The second rider was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
Investigators determined a white Toyota RAV4 was traveling south on Coors and entered into the left turn lane at Westside Dr. The vehicle attempted to make a left-hand turn when it was struck by two motorcycles, a white 2024 Suzuki and a red 2000 Yamaha. The rider of the Suzuki was ejected and died at the scene. The rider of the Yamaha was ejected and transported to the hospital in critical condition.
There were no signs of impairment from any of the drivers. Witnesses stated the motorcycles were traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash.
